Birthday!

I suppose I should say BirthdayS! but it's really not all about me any more, is it? Oh well, we had a fun party for Sabine's 8th...fruit on a stick, pizza, cake, water balloon fights, face painting, and of course, general kinder-mayhem.

(Oh, and we finally found a living room couch -- look how many kids fit on it! and they could have added more!!!)

Designing girl

I forgot to take a photo of the centerpiece Sabine made for the New Years Eve party -- with plastic shiny ornaments, a string of white lights and some plastic fish...very cool...but here is one she made out of greenery from our yard and snips from the Christmas tree. She found the glass bowls in descending size, and set it all up...

The flowers below were given to us from our friend who works in the floral department of our local grocery store -- she gave us a BUNCH of flowers that were on their last legs and Sabine arranged them like this (while friend Marley and Vivian played bride with the two "bouquets" of tulips):

Pattern blocks

You can click on the title of this post to see where we got these blocks (Discount School Supply -- I did a lot of research online (after calling the local toy stores who were all out of them) and these were the cheapest available -- I think they're made in China, and they're not 100% perfect, but they're adequate!). I think I bought 2 sets of them this past fall when Sabine was going crazy with the smaller Melissa and Doug set that someone gave us. It's really fun to have LOTS of them to make into interesting patterns.

Happy 7 year old.

Some recent Sabine creations...

This is a dollar bill, with "that guy with the funny hair" on it...

We Netflixed Peter Pan this week. This is Tinkerbell. The wings are taped on giving her a nice 3-D look.

This was a pie pan of green jello we made...the drawing is after eating 1/2 of it.

Pecan pie inspriation

Bret showed me this after the mosiac class Kristin and I took at DIY Collage.

Do you see it?

Not yet?

How about now?

Sabine helped with the pecan placement. Thanks, Baker Al, for the outstanding crust, and for teaching me the secret to pizza dough...I'll post that soon.

6 year old birthday party

This was my original idea for a party favor for the 10 little girls Sabine had invited to her party...as usual I was overly optimistic...This one took a fair bit of time to make, so we gave it to another little friend for her birthday gift, and came up with this for party favors:

Much easier to make en masse.

Happy girlies!

Some things just look alike...

To an almost 6 year old girl...

This is chicken that is defrosting...

This is bread with powdered sugar on top...

Fortunately I caught Sabine before she put former in her mouth...she just thought it looked like, well, bread with powdered sugar. Who can blame her?
